NTS Ultrasonics offers a range of software controlled ultrasonic systems, including pulser receivers. Communication with these ultrasonic pulser receivers is via a high speed serial link from a computer or a microcontroller.
For computer control we offer USB2.0 (480 Mbps) communications. For microcontroller control, we offer SPI communications.
We offer several standard circuits designated by UT-1x or UT-2x. The UT-1x circuits are suitable for a variety of pulse-echo applications. The UT-2x circuits are suitable for a variety of pulse-echo and dual ttransducer applications. The UT-2x comes in a number of hardware variations with different features.
The UT-1x pulser receiver can be configured as a USB ultrasonic pulser receiver, or as an SPI ultrasonic pulser receiver.
Some UT-2x circuit variations can be configured as either USB or SPI pulser receivers, while some are only configured for USB.
All circuits can be customized. Additional functionality and signal handling features can be added to the systems by altering the configuration of the on-board field programmable gate array (FPGA) or by altering the host computer software. Additional functionality might include time of flight capture, peak amplitude capture, and special ways to handle encoder inputs.
If required, we can design new variations of the UT-Xx boards to offer new features. New features might include:
> faster digitizing speeds, or higher digitizing resolution.
> different styles of transmitter: higher power, biploar output, coded pulse output, etc,
> multiple channels.
All UT-Xx circuits come with Windows based software with basic features to demonstrate the operation of the circuit. This "basic" software package allows the user to test all hardware adjustments for the circuit, including Gain, digitizing frequency, transmitter voltage, transmitter tuning, etc. Data from the circuit is displayed in an A scan format. The software is suitable for very basic flaw detection and thickness measurement actvities.
The user can use this software as a basis for adding more functionality. Alternatively, NTS Ultrasonics can add the additional functionality that may be required for specific applications. Routines that can be added include B scan, C scan, streaming data to disk, various measurements: thickness, velocity, amplitude, etc, and exporting data.
The software supplied by NTS Ultrasonics Pty Ltd is written in C using National Instruments LabWindows CVI.
