High Power Ultrasonic Transducers

NTS Ultrasonics design and build various styles of high power ultrasonic transducer (sonicator). All of our sonicators are designed in-house. We can design high power ultrasonic transducers for special applications, including ultrasonic cleaning and materials processing. We can also design special clamps allowing our ultrasonic transducers to be fitted to pipework.

Ultrasonic Transducers and Sonicators

We design both standard and immersible ultrasonic transducer assemblies.

Immersible ultrasonic transducers can be fully immersed in a fluid. They generally consist of multiple ultrasonic transducers built into a sealed metal box, or can be one of several types of rod or tubular sonicator. Immersible ultrasonic transducers can be used to convert a tank into an ultrasonic system.

Standard transducers are not designed to be immersed in fluids. NTS Ultrasonics designs and builds transducers for a variety of applications, including clamping to pipes and tubes to create ultrasonic resonators that allow the contents to be ultrasonically processed. These transducers are generally designed to information supplied by the client.

Some transducer assemblies designed by NTS Ultrasonics are capable of operation at several different frequencies.

Immersible ultrasonic transducers can be fully immersed in a fluid. They generally consist of multiple ultrasonic transducers built into a sealed metal box, or can be one of several types of rod or tubular sonicator. Immersible ultrasonic transducers can be used to convert a tank into an ultrasonic system.
Ultrasonic drivers, or generators, generate the electrical signals needed to make the transducers work. Mains frequency AC signals (50/60 Hz) are converted to DC, then the DC is converted back to AC at the required ultrasonic frequency. The DC/AC conversion stage design is based on a current fed push-pull inverter. This is a robust design, well suited to industrial applications where equipment must run for extended periods of time, even 24/7. This design also allows for safe transmission of the electrical driving signals over distances of 10s of metres. The driving signals are transmitted at safe levels through the cables, and only stepped up at the transducer.
